Our undercoating material, Fluid Film, is a lanolin based rust preventative that penetrates the steel of your undercarriage, down to the base metal, and displaces the moisture that is already presently exacerbating oxidization. It effectively stops rust. Plus, it’s black, so it looks amazing!

Fluid Film is Different.
Our material combines rust proofing and undercoating in a single step.
Fluid Film is a rust proofing because it penetrates into the steel and displaces the moisture that’s inside like an oil, but it’s thick so it creates a powerful protective layer over top of the steel, sealing it from future absorption by moisture.
It also doesn’t drip.
It is highly effective at protecting the vehicle’s underside steel from the elements because eventually road dust will adhere to the coating and skim it over, making it feel dry to the touch. Beneath the skim, however, it remains moist, continuing to lubricate and protect the undercarriage from rust.
Fluid Film is especially potent because it neutralizes the calcium chloride and salt found on our Winter roads, not to mention magnesium chloride.
Underworld Coatings’ rust treatment can last a lifetime, and as part of our commitment to keeping vehicles rust free, we recommend that customers who have had our work done bring their vehicles back to us the following Spring, after Winter does it’s damage to the coating, for a touchup. Harsh Winter conditions can remove Fluid Film in vulnerable areas underneath vehicles. We will have a look and make sure everything is in place because the real magic of this coating happens in the Summer.
When it gets hot outside, the steel underneath our vehicles expands, and the moisture that is inside the steel vaporizes. The moisture molecules move around erratically, and come into contact with the Fluid Film membrane. When this happens, by osmosis, the moisture is displaced; the Fluid Film penetrates even deeper, and your rust problems are over.
Rustproofing Undercoating are usually two different processes, producing two different results.
Rust proofing is generally applied as a thin material, like krown or rust check, that is very runny and drips everywhere and is only effective at stopping rust for a limited time.
Undercoating, on the other hand, is usually a thick, permanent, hardening or rubberized coating that offers permanent results that provide an armour to the undercarriage.
The problem with the usual rustproofing technique is that it requires continual servicing and re-application on a yearly basis. It is costly and wasteful.
The main issue with undercoating is that because it hardens, it seals in the moisture that’s already inside the steel, creating even more rust. Hardening and rubberized undercoats tend to disintegrate because of underlying oxidization, and create a huge mess underneath the vehicle over time. It is completely ineffective at stopping rust.
Touchups are inexpensive and they are generally minimal.
Our undercoating process uses industrial sprayers, and we try to get into every nook and cranny possible. Often, this requires the removal and reinstallation of underside skid plates, and an intense cleaning and scaling of surfaces in order to achieve the greatest possible coverage and penetration of Fluid Film. This is all done by us in our shop and is part of our process.
If your vehicle is muddy underneath, however, let us know, and we can direct you to a third-party shop that specializes in undercarriage washing before you bring it to us for undercoating.
